This is where I am supposed to tell you all about the benefits of reading my words. I like to tell stories—for many years, I did it as a full-time reporter, writer, and editor at Time and Fast Company, and you’ll still occasionally find my words in Travel+Leisure—and I like to grow things. I call my newsletter “Notes of a Make-Believe Farmer” because 1) I don’t really know that much about farming; and 2) working on the land is something that helped me come to a fuller belief in beauty, redemption, and God.

I am also a profoundly bad marketer. My friend Rachel once yelled at me for habitually negotiating my speaking fees downward, because I always worry about whether a church or not-for-profit can afford it. I am the worst.

Thank you for spending time with me and my words. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and website. It’s free!
