Love reading about my neighborhood but more importantly love having Fozzie back! He always brings a smile to my face! I do however have to side with Tristan about coffee shops!
As someone who moved 14 times in my childhood and then married a navy man and traveled the world I have always made my place of belonging where I am. And it’s harder than I think it will be every time. Eventually it happens and I try to make it happen faster since I know it will be good when it happens. Today we are in Vermont visiting our daughter and her little family as we consider finding our place here in the future. It’s so far from our home in California and a lot colder! I have hope that it will happen one day. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us Jeff.
Thank you Jeff for answering my curious question about traveling with Fozzie. Your picture of him in the car brought a smile this morning :)
Thank you also for your thoughts on placemaking. I moved into a new house 9 months ago to be nearer to friends, and it did not instantly feel like home. As I walked the neighborhood with my dog and saw rainbow flags everywhere (it was June) and received a lot of friendly hellos, I started to feel these might be my people. I’ve recently decided to remodel my kitchen and dining area, and have felt guilty for spending the money, but your words about the kitchen resonated with me and I nodded “YES” in agreement as you helped me put words to what I’m trying to do… I’m making a place that feels like home and reflects the welcoming space I want it to be.
Jeff, thank you as always for your very thoughtful writings! I have struggled lately to figure out "where is home" when my entire lived experience is as a settler on unceded territories. I attended a virtual Quaker meeting during the initial lockdowns two years ago, and I met a man with a lot of guitars. When I asked him about "his" guitars, he said, "I am merely a caretaker for them while I am here." Thank you for helping me to see that being a caretaker of where I am at and knowing how deeply God loves me are actually linked together. And thank you for the beautiful Lenten blessing! Peace to you, Tristan and Fozzie!
Jeff- thank you for your words. Placemaking has always been a struggle for me until the last 10 years or so. Bless you all~~
Thank you so much for your words, for addressing the very question I've had about church for so long, and for the beautiful blessing.
