Thanks, Jeff, for your good words and the way they help me to be present to small and beautiful things…really good cheese, for instance, or the smell of bread baking…hearing my 20 month old granddaughter string words together as she learns the world she belongs to. She helps me to find it wondrous.
Blessings to you and Tristan on your 10th anniversary!
Thank you for the link to the NYT godwit story. What fascinating birds! I am going to be thinking about "resting in goodness" so that I can "feed on gratitude" as I watch my red maples and Japanese maple change color and drop leaves in the coming months.
Also - happy 10th anniversary! And thank you for noting that you'd never grown anything from seed all those year ago. I read all your gardening stories and think - I could never do that. But you never did that, and now you do, so maybe I can too.
Hi Jeff- I just read this as I was eating and getting ready to go out to our farm to pick endless tomatoes before the rain comes! That is one way I nurture rootedness. Also walking in nature and kayaking. And reading Phyllis Tickle’s daily hours in the morning before I start my day.
I wish I could ask my deceased mom if she knew Roxanne. She probably did. My mom started her fashion career at the couture collection in Saks 5th Ave., New York. She eventually moved to Scottsdale where she and my stepdad had their own clothing store Capriccio that was featured in WWW Daily fairly frequently. (Back when three W’s weren’t a location)
Happy Anniversary!
Thank you for your sharing. I enjoy your newsletter. Blessings, Cindy WJ
I use my gift of hospitality. I’m sustained by my church community and my neighborhood.I recently joined a spiritual foundations class met new people and found that my God and my world need stretching. I’m happy to support Jeff and I save most of your notes. My spiritual director Lisa is a huge help on my journey. Have a good rest
Happy Anniversary! Many blessings on your next 10 years together! Thank you for this beautiful reminder that rest is not a reward, but the well we draw from to do the work.
Happy anniversary!! I hope you and Tristan have a wonderful time to celebrate and remember and rejoice and rest :)
The seed is in the ground.
Now may we rest in hope
While darkness does its work
