I cried all the way through this sermon. Mary and Martha at the tomb of Lazarus get to me every time with their audacious questions and bold faith in the midst of grief. Thanks for these words.
I was at a retreat this weekend where the text was this one. Mary & Martha waiting and Jesus is not there. And now your excellent sermon. I’m paying attention! The theme of the retreat was “Running Towards Hope” it was excellent. Thank you for this. And tulips! Uganda law is heartbreaking.
A beautiful sermon - I love your perspective, pointing us to the story that had not yet played out. Martha did not know her brother would be raised and physically present with her soon. And the blend of faith… I still believe you are who you say you are mixed with, You let me down. I could use a healthy dose of that both/and perspective in my life. Thank you for this.
The sermon I always seem to need to hear over and over. Thank you for writing it and for sharing this with us.
I need this sermon every day. Thank you so much for sharing. I think God is in many places we would not think to look.
Dear Jeff,
My heartfelt gratitude for your words.
