Just here to let you know that I read the subject line so many times, and read "nickleback" and actually didn't click to read this right away because I was a bit confused about reading about nickleback thoughts.

glad i finally got that sorted out.

Active waiting. Deeply resonating these days. Appreciate you!

Thank you for your post. This post gave lovely words and truthfulness about Nickel Creek! My daughter introduced them to me (and her father) in 2000. Many road trip miles with Nickel Creek has happened since then. Her father died last year however she and I thoroughly enjoyed being at the June 2 concert at The Eastern, Atlanta! Oh my gosh!

NICKEL CREEK! They're one of my all-time favorite bands— I discovered them when I was 14 and listened to their first two albums on repeat through all the tumultuous teen years. :) My spouse and I were going to see them in April, but the concert got postponed to September, so reading this really made me excited to see them play in a couple months! I really appreciate your reflections, too.

This one made me tear up. Things feel extra tender these days, and I am mourning again/still the loss of so many relationships. I'm healing, but its slow going. The beauty and pain are all mixed up together. "Active, even vigorous waiting" is a great description. Thank you as always. (Our squash is the only thing thriving so far. Even the tomatoes look wimpy and sad. They do have some blossoms though. And the cucumber is absolutely pathetic. 😔 Even the basil is pale. Time to go cheer them on.)

Jeff, this newsletter applied salve to wounds in the most unexpected ways. Your thoughtful insight about a holding pattern being “active, even vigorous waiting” was a such a good reminder for the messy season, unsure when the plane can land. That gives me hope for my long-haul situation. And, the beautiful way you reminded us that friendships that were for a season are no less beautiful because they didn’t track beyond that. Thank you for faithfully writing. Praying for you this summer as you prep your manuscript!!

Jeff, I love that you like Nickel Creek too! I haven't had a chance to see them in concert, but I enjoy their music. I love their rendition of the children's folk song/poem The Fox.
