Psalm 22 is one of my favorites. Reading about the Ochoas was a fun bonus-Tony and one of my daughters went to school together :-)

Thank you for the beautiful prayer. I live in a state where the majority don't believe in science; thankfully, my school district is wise and is requiring masks. I started my 29th year of teaching 9th graders two weeks ago and am exhausted and scared and fragile. My step-dad died a month ago and I am trying to help my mom navigate that while homebound because of a fall she took. My oldest went back to his senior year at Oklahoma and my middle son leaves in a couple of weeks for Southern Oregon. I am feeling all the feels without yet shedding tears. I could take any prayers you could offer.

Great post. I’ve tried making bagels but they came out kind of flat. Excited to try this recipe! Meanwhile, I was recently introduced to Gunilla Norris’ book Becoming Bread which is about making bread and how to be nourishment for others. My copy arrives next week and I can’t wait to read it. http://gunillanorris.com/books/becoming-bread/

Thanks again Jeff for giving me some.balm for my soul this morning. I've been thinking a lot about prayer this week as we too are trying desperately to help our friends family get out of Kabul. "Prayer moves us to concrete action'". As I read your beautiful description of bagel making and I think of the attention it takes to makes a great bagel or a dish I am feeling like this is the smar energy we are using to help birth a new life for our friends. It's so painful now that we are not able to see them get through the gates to the airport and we grieve as we keep making our calls and keep hoping. I look.at my sweet dedicated husband a vet, with sorrows and yet joy as he works to help where he can amd I think of prayer and being attentive.

I know I'm rambling but I just say thank you for creating your work so we can enjoy it in the midst of this sorrow.
