I, too, love peonies, but have mixed results in coastal North Carolina. We returned yesterday from 2 weeks away caring for a daughter who had surgery (and her SIX children!!!) to find that 4 peonies had sprouted and three have buds! Ridiculous how pleased I am....considering the lilies of the field! I love your writing, Jeff, and look forward to it. Please continue!
Jeff, I love reading your notes. Thank you. I too am planting and trusting. I go outside to check on them several times a day. I do it mostly to take a break from work but I find myself drawn to them and wondering what more I can do to help them grow.
Our local greenhouse posted they have peonies for sale and then I read your email. I'm taking it as a sign that I'm to plant some. I am working on uprooting and cleaning out neglected flower beds from the previous owners.
I love your weekly email and look forward to it every week. Your format fits for me - little spiritual, little current event, little garden and little food and lots of heart felt, personal comments (those are my favorite). I love when you post your recipe as I am a foodie. Just getting into gardening so need all the help I can get there too. Just bought one of those vertical garden thingies - so will see how that works out in our smallish backyard. I need your thoughts, rants and raves. They keep me centered. So long and short - you are doing great, not sure you need to change a thing. I frequently fall back on your compost analogy in my spiritual searching. Thank you Jeff!
I enjoy all of what you share. I too love peonies, I have learned they can be temperamental and refuse to bloom after being moved! They are pretty happy now, and I look forward to watching them grow. This spring I planted seeds early indoors and have enjoyed watching them sprout. Definitely another exercise in patience and trust, much needed during this time. Thanks for sharing a bit of yourself here.
I enjoy reading about what you're planting, especially when things don't go exactly right, it makes me feel less lonely. I'm fairly new to gardening and have more failures than wins. But when something goes right and I can actually eat it, I think it tastes even better!
I love your letters. They feel like a “letter from home.” I’m getting weirdly emotional writing this...thanks for your honesty, vulnerability, and kindness.
I look forward to your weekly notes. As a gay man who grew up in Michigan, I feel a sense of comradeship from your thoughts. And yes, even as a massive introvert, I have never felt lonelier in my life.
I'm here for all of it, Jeff—especially the food and Fozzie content. Thanks for pulling your thoughts together each week. That's not a small labor, and I am so grateful. I always look forward to what you have to say, and find myself thinking about something you've said days later.
Jeff, thank you for your weekly letters. I enjoy reading about what you are doing and thinking as we make our way through these strange pandemic days together. Please know your ideas and recipes bring reflection and a smile. I am grateful for your company on the journey. Don

Jeff, I love reading your thoughts. I'm so glad for you that you got to have the vaccine. I adore peonies too.
I just love whatever you write about. Peonies remind me of my mother and my heritage as well...

I really enjoy it all. The gardening, the cooking, the theology.
