I love your letters. They feel like a “letter from home.” I’m getting weirdly emotional writing this...thanks for your honesty, vulnerability, and kindness.

Hi Jeff , i just recently was introduced to the “ Evolving Faith “ podcast which is where I came to know about you. What a gift. After listening to your theology of composting I searched around on other podcasts to listen to your courageous and grace-filled words . Thank you for daring to speak up and to share your voice with us . As a 62 year old , married , white , Christian woman , eager to expand my theology , you have truly been transformative. A balm for the soul. Truth and peace .

Please keep writing .

Jeff, like so many others here, your email is a treasured gift - one for which I actively reserve time and attention, because I don’t want to miss any of the beautiful prose, the thoughtful questions, and the affirmation of a faith that seems so hard to see clearly these days. Thank you for continuing to show us what smart, caring people can do with grace.

Hi Jeff from a reader currently in Canberra, Australia. Your newsletter is the one thing in my inbox that I treasure. I see that it’s there, plot a time that I can savour reading it with a glass of nice red, or perhaps a nice cup of tea, look forward all day to that time, then breathe and exhale and read something that always speaks directly to my soul. Thank you!

I love your weekly email and look forward to it every week. Your format fits for me - little spiritual, little current event, little garden and little food and lots of heart felt, personal comments (those are my favorite). I love when you post your recipe as I am a foodie. Just getting into gardening so need all the help I can get there too. Just bought one of those vertical garden thingies - so will see how that works out in our smallish backyard. I need your thoughts, rants and raves. They keep me centered. So long and short - you are doing great, not sure you need to change a thing. I frequently fall back on your compost analogy in my spiritual searching. Thank you Jeff!

Hi Jeff thanks for doing these letters. I live in GR have tons of peonies in my yard so if you want to dig up more let me know. I’m also a 2 time EF conference attendee both Denver and 2020 virtual. Sad that there won’t be one this year but totally understand. This has been a hard year. I’m a weekly farmers market attendee as well as you. Love the fact it stays open all year.

Jeff, as always, I deeply appreciate the time you spend on these letters. Thank you very much. I haven't planted my black beans yet (in Illinois) but I have wild chives everywhere in the yard in Michigan. My peonies are well past knee high too. Give Fozzie my best.

I so very very much enjoy your writing! All of the categories I like (reflections, what your cooking, what your growing)...and the occasional picture of Fozzie is a treat. Thanks for presenting your thoughts in a way that leads me to examine, sit with and grow my own.

Hey Jeff. For the life of me I can’t remember how I stumbled upon your blog but I am so grateful I did. I am often suspect when people assign good things to God but in this case I have to go there too. I have been enriched, inspired and challenged by your writings and your struggles. I have found wonderful books to deepen my faith, awesome recipes and even a Prone to wander t-shirt that I love. I’ve watched you preach and felt blessed. It’s amazing what can happen when we say yes to go’s and what he puts on our hearts. I’m so glad and thankful that you said yes-knowingly or not-when God suggested you start putting your thought out into the world.

"To plant is to risk, and to plant is to trust." ... This one of those Jeff Chu sentences that's both simple and profound, applicable to contexts far beyond the specific instance you're talking about. I'll be pondering this one all weekend in relation to something my mind is churning on--with gratitude for your words of gentle insight and wisdom. Grateful for you and your words. Keep going. Thanks for planting.

Your letters started hitting my inbox right about the time I realized I had to leave my church for good because of white supremacy (that only got worse when they got a Trump-loving conspiracy theorist for a pastor, from what I hear). My children were all born in India and we just didn't feel safe there anymore. Because of where we live (the rural Bible Belt), we are out of churches to try. Your letters help me ask questions without losing faith entirely, and your recipes and gardening stories are the best

I love pulling cooking inspiration from whatever odds and ends I have in the fridge and pantry. I've never come up with apples and chard, but I'll add that to my idea list!
