I don’t believe in “love languages,” but if I did, potatoes would be mine.
I’ve been comforted throughout this week by seeing and hearing so many stand up for their neighbors—the ones they know AND the ones they don’t. It’s comforting that we’re not alone - and that’s also not benign: it’s a calling. 💚
Thanks for this reminder. I also want to share that I requested Rachel Held Evans book Wholehearted Faith from my local library after learning about her from your book. I was not previously aware of her writings and my heart is resonating with her words (maybe some of your words as well as you brought her latest musings to us). I am glad to be part of this community.
Thank you for this reminder and for sharing the poem, which made me tear up. I'm currently hugging my own baby (almost two months old!) and remembering that this too is a way to heal the world. Thank you, as always, for the encouragement.
“Tiny tuberous reminder of love.” Adding this to my collection of phrases used to describe an emotions/experience that is underrepresented in the list of positive feelings. We have words like “awe, wonder, admire, excitement, curiosity, amusement, connection, contentment” but how do we describe the feeling of being seen, known and blessed by our creator in a specific, timely way? I am reading Brene Brown’s Atlas of the Heart, and I feel like this one is missing. My friend use the word synchronicity, which I like, but I am collecting more phrases. I also like Oprah’s “God winks.”

You make me smile!
Thank you for this reminder. In these times, I love hearing and seeing the infinite ways God reminds us that love indeed prevails.
I've just started your book and it's bringing me comfort at the end of long and sometimes discouraging days. Thanks for sharing your beautiful words.
Thank you, Jeff. The potato was just what I needed. And the reminder to spread love. I donated and it helped.
