I love your writing. I have Covid. I'd appreciate prayers for the return of my senses of taste and smell. Also, I have been in a long season of doubt - does God even exist, is the bible inerrent, how can other Christians see things so differently? Any recommendations on that front?
Thank you and Tristan also for entering a research trial. So important! Its not always easy to put more in your schedule. Your time sacrifice is appreciated. Excited for you to get your favorite seeds. It helps to receive such a delivery during Michigan winters. I spend my very cold nights reading my favorite flower catalog. It has such great writing! I am so glad you are staying in the area! You live in such a nice area , two street over from where I grew up . Im a little partial in my opinion of the neighborhood. ❤️
I love reading things about my city when you right. Cherry Health is a great asset! I'm also glad to hear you are staying as in GR for awhile longer. As much as I love you and your writing, I have to confess, that I'm exited that means more Fozzie sightings when I'm either going to or coming from work!
I've been thinking a lot about what we will say when the next and future generations want to talk about the "olden days" of the pandemic, how I want to talk about how we did what we could to help. I want to talk about sending cards to people in nursing homes, and having girls' night on zoom. I want to talk about how I volunteered to take on extra work at my job at a college to do contact tracing, and how I would get up before dark on a Saturday to shop at a grocery store at 6 a.m. since that was a slow time and couldn't shop online. I didn't get to participate in a drug trial, but I love that when the future generations ask you that question you can tell them you stepped up in a way that really mattered.
Dear Jeff, Thank you for always sharing so honestly. You are a gift. About a month before the lockdown, my daughter and happened upon a little local used bookstore. I bought all the James Herriot books they had because I also remembered loving them as a child. They have been a wonderful escape for me these past few months. I don't know how I did not know there was a PBS series. Thank you for sharing this information! I followed the link and signed up to be an "All Creatures Great and Small Insider." Love all your "fragmented thoughts" which don't seem so fragmented to me. Much love and appreciation <3
As a healthcare provider - I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your participation in vaccine study. It is only because of people like you that we can advance science. You are my inspiration for so many things and I love you emails. Will try this tofu dish. I am trying very hard to move to a whole food, plant based diet and haven't found the perfect way to marinate or cook tofu yet. If you have a secret, go-to method or recipe I would love for you to share. One question, will you resume your podcasts with Sarah? I loved listening to those on my walks.
Debbie, there are so many different kinds of tofu and taste is so individual. If you like soft tofu, you could braise it with mushrooms and onion in a bit of chicken stock; for seasoning, you can add some soy sauce and/or oyster sauce, a bit of sriracha (if you like spice), and lots of black pepper, and then thicken with a cornstarch slurry.
Thank you for being selfless enough to participate in the vaccine trial. Love your writing and wish you all the best! (And while I am not a tofu fan, yours looks pretty good.)
Jeff, you are a remarkable person. I look forward to listening to your sermon on Sunday, and wish you the best in the days ahead. I’m glad you are not leaving GR. Thank you for all of your words. They always warm my heart. (especially on cold Michigan days during covid)
I need prayer for my marriage.
Wonderful message today.
So thrilled to hear you are planning to stay in Grand Rapids! Also much gratitude for your willingness to participate in the vaccine trial.
Jeff, I love your good, kind heart. And I would love to try your tofu. <3

Thank you for volunteering to do the trial!
All Creatures Great & Small was a favorite of mine, too! I wanted to be a vet when I grew up haha
